Surprint is a printing utility that allows you to overprint a large diagonal banner, a header or a footer on a document printed from nearly any application. The banner, header and footer are printed directly on top of the page(s) being printed by the application. The banner is printed as outlined text using a very thin line so you can easily read through it. It is handy for labeling documents without sending them through the printer twice or hand stamping them. People often use the banner feature to mark words such as Draft, Internal Copy and even Confidential. Also, it's lots of fun to mark a document as DO NOT READ and leave it on your desk to see how many people will read it. The header and footer are useful when you want to give a document a quick, ad-hoc label or for applications which do not support headers or footers.
There are some word processing programs published today that incorporate similar features. But we have seen that by using this feature it adds the actual wording directly to the document causing the file to expand in size, sometimes as much as 25K more per document. Surprint does not attach any additional wording to your document, only to the actual print out. Thereby saving disk space too.
The demo file, in addition to printing your inputted information, will print the words Sample Surprint as a banner going in the opposite direction. If you are running under System 6.0.x, drop the expanded file into the System Folder. System 7 users, please make sure that this file is in the Control Panels folder. Surprint's only requirement is that it you must print to a postscript printer.
